An operational team headed by minister of road transport Nitin Gadkari is examining the opportunity of India generating the changeover to 100 per cent electric vehicles by 2030.
“This plan will probably be on a self-financing method and will evaluate monetising savings that consumers have on Petroleum products,” said Piyush Goyal, minister of state for power, coal and renewable energy. Goyal was addressing the Meeting on Young Indians on ‘Making India a global economic superpower.’
“India could turn out to be the very First Country of its dimension to be creating 100 per cent of electric vehicles,” he was quoted saying.
The government is concentrating on a scheme that would allow consumers to acquire electric cars on zero down transaction and individuals can certainly pay for it out of savings on Petroleum Products and solutions.
“Innovation is achievable, it merely needs an open mind. You require to think about scale and be truthful. We do not need one rupee assistance from the government. We don’t require one rupee financial commitment from the people of India,” he included.
The functional team will be meeting during the first week of April to find out whether India can become a country with 100 per cent electric vehicles by 2030.
“We are thinking about scale. We are thinking of leading the world instead of following the world. India will be very first largest nation in the world to come up with that scale,” he added.
