Instagram is set to hold its First Ever photograph exhibition in India on 7th January, where photos generated from the photo and video sharing app will be out for display.
The social media app owned by Social Networking giant Facebook, will display community generated Instagram photos based on the theme ‘Celebrating Diversity of Bengal’. The exhibition will be held at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) gallery in Kolkata.
The exhibition displaying community-centric posts will feature snaps covering the beauty of Bengal during festivals. Photos to be exhibited will cover local diversity and heritage.
“People today are finding their visual voice through the images we capture and share with others, each image telling a story about what we’re experiencing. Images are universal. They transcend language and cultural barriers,” read a statement from Instagram. It said that the Instagram community in India will portray the cultural nuances using the mobile app.
Instagram has started to widen its reach in India, with many social media fanatics taking to the app to post varied Dubsmash videos.
