With less than four months remaining in the 2015-16 fiscal year, the Telangana state is still waiting for nearly Rs 44,000 Crore that the Central government has to pay towards grants and other packages.
Reportedly, the Centre owes Rs 30,000 crore towards development of backward areas, over Rs 7000 crore of Central Sales Tax arrears and close to Rs 7000 Crore grants. The Budget estimates of Telganaga govt went awry with delay from Centre and no prompt response despite repeated requests by Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao and state Finance Minister Etela Rajender.
The Telangana government failed to adjust Rs 4,000 crore towards fee reimbursement and over Rs 8,000 crore for one-time payment of the crop loan waivers to banks. Due to lack of funds, it owes Rs 5,000 crore to the state government employees towards arrears of nine months of the 10th Pay Revision Commission.
Students, farmers and employees of the state are angry at govt. for the delay but the state is looking at the Centre for the clearance of dues.
