A group of Indians in UK have initiated a legal movement against Queen Elizabeth II demanding to return the precious ‘Koh-i-Noor’, meaning the ‘mountain of light’ diamond to India.
As per the history, the 105-carat stone, worth 100 Million Euros, is said to have been mined in India in 13th century. The world’s largest cut diamond had been exchanged from one dynasty to another in ancient India.
It was gifted to Queen Victoria during the British rule. Duleep Singh, the last Sikh king, travelled to Britain in 1850 and gifted the valuable Koh-i-Noor diamond to Queen Victoria.
It is now set in the Queen’s mother’s crown and is put for displayed in the Tower of London. Bhumika Singh, a Bollywood actress participating in the campaign, said that the 105-carat stone has lot of history and culture and it should be returned to India.
