The price of Toor dal is on increasing mode for the past few days. The current price is Rs 185 per kg in the retail market. Interestingly, it is almost double to the price of chicken.
As per reports, the prices of most other dals are well over Rs 100 per kg. However, the prices shown by the Department of Consumer Affairs say that tur dal is being sold for around Rs 100 – 120.
According to officials, the price of tur dal is on increasing mode due to shortage in the production this year. There could be no relief in term of price till the end of this year, affirmed official. The central government is heard to be planning to import dal from Myanmar and African countries.
With these kind of prices for necessary commodities, the common an is left to eat noting but soil.
