Although the farmers are conducting neckdeep protests in Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh government seems to be determined to build an International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram.
In regard, it has given the clearance to Bhogapuram International Airport Corporation Limited (BIACL) to put forward a proposal to raise Rs 1,500 Crore through bank loans.
The AP government has been trying to pool thousands of acres of agriculture lands in and around Bhogapuram but the farmers have been protesting against the move of the government and are refusing to part with their productive lands.
AP ministers and officials are busy in the process of land pooling though. The government is undeterred with the protests and has now appointed Secretary of the energy department Ajay Jain as the new chairman of the BIACL. AP Govt. has also given permission to set up a functional office of BIACL in Visakhapatnam.
It seems that just like the farmers of capital region, Bhogapuram farmers will have to surrender their lands sooner or later.
