The makers of Thalaiva on 23rd November revealed the fist look poster of Film’s main lead Kangna Ranaut who’s playing former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayaram Jayalalithaa.
Kangnaa looks almost unrecognizable in the poster as she dresses up as middle-aged Jayalithaa who served as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for over 14 years between 1991 and 2016. Kangna is seen in green dress.
Thalaivi is an upcoming Indian multilingual biographical film directed by A. L. Vijay and produced by Vishnu Induri and Shailesh R Singh under their respective banners Vibri and Karma media And entertainment.
The film Features Kangana Ranaut in the lead role as Jayalalithaa.
Thalaivi is based on the life of Jayalalithaa.
In the 2016 Assembly election, Jayalalithaa became the first Tamil Nadu chief minister since MGR in 1984 to be voted back into office.
That September, she fell severely ill and, following 75 days of hospitalisation, died on 5 December 2016 due to cardiac arrest.
The film was officially announced on 24 February 2019 by A. L. Vijay on the occasion of Jayalalithaa’s birthday.
The film is scheduled to be released theatrically on 26 June 2020.
