Parliament’s rulebook, Erskine May utters that a motion that is the same in substance as a previous one cannot be brought back to the House of Commons during the course of a single Parliamentary session.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has on 21st of October been denied the opportunity to hold a 2nd vote on Brexit deal in the House of Commons.
The House of Commons Speaker, John Bercow has ruled out giving MP’s another chance and he said that it would be repetitive and disorderly.
What made Speaker reject Brexit deal vote proposal?
John Bercow said a motion on the Brexit deal had already been brought before MPs on Saturday (19th of October) and it would be repetitive and disorderly to debate it again.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Bercow said he came to the decision on the basis of a Parliamentary convention dating back to 1604.
The Speaker cited Parliament’s rulebook, Erskine May, which utters a motion that is the same in substance as a previous one cannot be brought back to the House of Commons during the course of a single Parliamentary session.
