After witnessing YSR Congress party chief and newly-elected Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Reddy’s flip-flopped talks on the special category status issue, people have started slamming YS Jagan on the social media platforms by using hashtag #UTurnReddy.
YSR Congress party (YSRCP) chief and newly-elected chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who ran his entire election campaign on the issue of Special Category Status is now seemingly stepping back on the promise.
Mr. Reddy during his election campaign had promised to the people of Andhra Pradesh that if he was given more than 20 Lok Sabha seats, he would get special category status from the centre. And people fully trusted in his commitment and gave his party YSRCP 151 of 175 Assembly seats, and 22 of 25 Lok Sabha seats.
Mr. Reddy is now, however is conveniently re-scaling and tying to escape from the promise made by him.
YS Jagan Reddy on Sunday (26th of May) has indicated that it won’t be possible to get special category status to the State of Andhra Pradesh, as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got over 300 Lok Sabha seats.
Speaking to media following a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Reddy said, “If the BJP would’ve been limited to 250 seats, we wouldn’t have had to depend so much on the central govt. But now, they don’t need us. We did what we could do and told him (PM) of our situation.”
Mr. Reddy again repeated the same words in an interview with India Today.
After witnessing Jagan Reddy’s flip-flopped talks on the specified issue, people have started slamming YS Jagan on the Social Media platforms by using hashtag #UTurnReddy.
It is worth noting that, when Chandrababu Naidu, former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh had taken U-Turn on Special Category Status during his tenure, people used hashtag #UTurnBabu and slammed him for breaking promises.
The hashtag #UTurnsBabu is now seemingly replaced by hashtag #UTurnReddy.
