Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that now Indians had ‘one more pilgrimage place’ to pay homage. The National War Memorial bears the name of twenty-five thousand nine hundred and forty-two soldiers in golden letters on granite tablets.
This memorial is spread over forty acres and honors the soldiers who laid their lives down for the country since independence. Proposed six decades ago, it has been built at the Indira Gate complex at the cost of Rupees one hundred and seventy-six crores.
