Three diamond-studded golden crowns decorating the presiding idols were reported missing from Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati.
The three crowns together are made up of 1,300 grams in gold and precious stones are reportedly worth over Rs 50 lakh.
Three diamond-studded golden crowns decorating the presiding idols were reported missing from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) manged Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati of Andhra Pradesh.
The TTD and the police were stunned seeing approximately 1300 grams of gold, with precious stones studded all over went missing from the temple city.
How Much Are They Worth?
The three crowns together are made up of 1,300 grams in gold and precious stones are reportedly worth more than Rs 50 lakh.
Following the incident, the TTD officials visited the temple and probed the temple staff as well as the priests to collect evidences.
Sri Govindarajaswamy Temple is an ancient Hindhu-vaishnavite temple situated at the heart of the Tirupati city.
The temple was built during 12 century and was consecrated in the year 1130 AD by Saint Ramanujacharya.
The temple is one of the earliest structures in Tirupati and also one of the biggest temple complex in Chittoor district.
The temple at current is being administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
