Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India has congratulated Abhijit Banerjee on being conferred the 2019 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.

Mr. Banerjee is the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He along with wife Esther Duflo are the sixth married couple to jointly win a Nobel Prize.
